Costa Rica Decaffeinated - CO2 Process
The CO2 decaffeination process for Costa Rican coffee uses highly pressurized carbon dioxide as a natural solvent to selectively remove caffeine from green beans, maintaining flavour while avoiding chemical solvents. The process often involves soaking beans in liquid CO2, which selectively binds to caffeine molecules before being removed, leaving the beans with 99.9% less caffeine.
They are medium-dark roasted, producing a strong coffee with notes of pear, cherry, cacao nibs and liqourice. It’s a versatile coffee that can easily be brewed in a variety of methods, including a French Press, V60, AeroPress and Moka Pot.
Packed and supplied in 100% recyclable bags and available for you to buy online as whole beans for you to grind yourself, we've also made our Colombia Excelso Decaf Colombian coffee available to purchase as freshly ground coffee in coarse, medium or fine.
