Papua New Guinea AX - Green Coffee Beans
Papua New Guinea Plantation AX is sourced from a variety of plantations in either the Eastern Highlands or Western Highlands. These plantations are a result of historical changes in infrastructure that reduced the number of centralized coffee plantations in Papua New Guinea. The reduction of larger plantations allowed the growth of “coffee gardens” – small plots of as few as 20 plants that are grown alongside subsistence crops. Combined with new processing methods being introduced, these already incredible coffees continue to increase in both quality and consistency.
Despite Plantation AX sounding like chemical compound, the A grade simply means that the cup is uniform, clean, reasonably balanced, and has a pronounced body and acidity, as well as a rich and distinct fragrance and aroma. The X means that the largest and smallest beans were left out of the sample for greater uniformity.
This coffee is raw and in its unroasted, green form, and must be roasted before consuming.
