Guatemala Coatitlan Coffee Beans from Central America

The Central American country of Guatemala has been producing coffee for over 150 years. Our Coatitlan coffee beans come from a cooperative called the Cooperativa Agrícola Integral Atitlán.

Atitlán is both the name of a lake and a volcano, situated in the Sololá department of Guatemala. The lake itself is endorheic, meaning it does not drain into the ocean or sea, and is overlooked by three volcanoes, Atitlá(with a peak of 3535 metres above sea level) and Tolimán (3158 masl) to the south and San Pedro (3020 masl) to the west, the slopes of which provide the vast majority of this coffee. Headquarters for the cooperative are in Santiago Atitlán, on the banks of the lake. Although the full range of the cooperative covers altitudes of 1350-2000 masl, the majority is grown around 1700 masl.

With an excellent SCA score of 85, this washed speciality coffee is a medium-light roast, and has blackberry, boiled sweets and raspberry flavours that make a juicy, syrupy cup. We recommend this coffee as a filter style coffee e.g. V60, Chemex.

As with all our products, it's packed and supplied in 100% biodegradable resealable bags. Our Guatemalan Coatitlan speciality coffee is available for you to buy online as whole beans to grind at home, or you can purchase it as freshly ground coffee in coarse, medium or fine grinds.

Great coffee, great ethics and personal service

Have been meaning to try Copper since I was introduced to their coffee by Little Gem. Ordered online and was happy to see that they had Guatemalan beans (house favourite) and also supported some local charities through their sales. It's great to purchase locally and then see locals in need helped out as well. Was expecting to wait three days for delivery, but it turned up hand delivered the following day; another advantage of shopping local.
